Fairytales: Tuesday

Today at morning free play we drew on our castle mural.

Making more castles at the light table with cups and magnetic blocks.

We also had fun stringing beads on pipe cleaners in the sensory table.

At morning message we had another discussion about how we can look at someone's face and expressions to help us determine how we are feeling.
We practiced determining our friends' feelings based on their facial expressions.

Some of our faces were happy and others were sad.

                                                                   We had chapel today.

Pastor Reitz led our chapel and read us a Christmas story since it was the Twelve Day of Christmas today.

Our offering helper bringing up our offering.

We also celebrated baptismal birthdays at chapel. One of our friends helped Mrs. Haun hand out the baptismal birthday gifts.

Our calendar helper counting the 5 days of January.
Our meteorologist predicted a windy, cold and sunny day.
At circle time we used pictures to help tell the Cinderella story.
We then went on a shoe hunt looking for Cinderella's missing glass slipper.

We found some other shoes along the way but determined they didn't look like Cinderella's slippers.

We finally found Cinderella's glass slipper at the end!
At centers we made God's prince and princess crowns! We talked about ways we can behave and share God's love with one another.

We continued playing our castle shape/ color game at centers!

We also made a shape castle and identified how many triangles, squares, rectangles and circles we used to create our own castle.

Our older friends worked on writing the  different number of shapes they used while building their shape castles.

We also had fun retelling Cinderella with the pictures we used at circle.

Fairytales: Monday

Today was a great day back from break. The kids really enjoyed getting back into routine and playing with their friends.

At morning message we discussed feelings and that you can look at peoples' faces and bodies to help you decide how they feel.

We looked at a picture of a sad and happy friend. We then discussed how we could act with each friend.

                                                    Enjoying time with friends outside!

We had show and tell and shared  one of our favorite moments from Christmas break with one another before snack.
Our calendar helper identifying the month of January and helping us count to January 4th.
Our meteorologist predicted a cloudy and cold day.
At circle time we discussed what a fairytale is and different events that might occur in a fairy tale. We discussed that fairy tales are make believe, usually begin with "Once Upon a Time" and end with "And they lived Happily Ever After." Ask your child about other events that might take place during a fairy tale. We talked about several: )

We each took a turn walking down a path into a magical kingdom at center. Each friend identified something they learned from circle about fairytales. Ask your child what they talked about while walking/crawling though our magical path.

We played a castle game while identifying colors and shapes at centers.

Working together to build castles with different shapes. Tomorrow we will creating individual shape castles!

We worked hard drawing castles, princesses/princes, forests, etc... to decorate our fairy tale pathway!

At Jesus time we talked about how Jesus grew up and helped many families. We talked about how Jesus raised Jairus' daughter from the dead while playing an "Hooray" and 'Oh no" game!
