Week of the Young Child - Workout Wednesday

And our favorite sport

We had another fun, busy Week of the Young Child day.

Before heading out for our special events,
we enjoyed a few morning activities in our room.

They are just loving the end result of their blob painting butterflies.

While some were painting, others were busy in other parts of the room.

We cleaned up and gathered for circle time.
In the midst of calendar time,
someone noticed the butterflies moving their wings.
So, we stopped what we were doing, of course.
We enjoyed watching them move and use their proboscis to sip nectar. Exciting!
They are ready to fly outside,
so we talked about releasing them tomorrow, Ascension Day.

We were so enthralled with watching our butterflies,
we were late for our workout!
We walked quickly to the Commons
and joined Miss Kirby's class for a Jazzercise session.

Warm up

Warm Up

We are movin'!

And groovin'!

And movin'

And groovin' some more!

After our exercise,
the librarian was ready to read stories to us in Miss Kirby's room.
All of today's stories involved movement.
The books the librarian read included,
We've All Got Belly Buttons and Head to Toe.

When we returned to the room,
we had snack, finished our circle time,
had a little time for centers, and then went outside.

Another awesome Week of the Young Child Day!
