An On Site Field Trip

We made it through our rainy Monday!

We were on the move around campus.
Even though the rain was pouring down and the air was damp,
the walk was made memorable by many earthworm sightings.

Why do earthworm squirm onto sidewalks when it is raining?

Before our "field trip", the children ....

... enjoyed running and playing with bean bags in the Commons. After calendar time, they wrote words for our Easter bulletin board, engaged in some involved dramatic play, started coloring pictures, and built some creatures in the block area.

Then we cleaned up and walked over to the church basement. We listened carefully as the docent from the Botanical Gardens talked about using our senses to study plants.

We used our senses to study five different plants. We couldn't use our sense of taste though.

Each plant was a little different and interesting to study.

The last activity was preparing our plants to take home.
Most of the children liked this part the best.

Before lunch, Koo Koo Kanga Roo helped the children get their wiggles out. Then we were off to the Commons for lunch.
