Fairytales: Friday

Today at morning free play we painted our castle mural.

Building castles in the block area.
Acting out Little Red Riding Hood in dramatic play!

Our morning message said that we were celebrating Connor's birthday today!

We also read, Smudge's Grumpy Day. This was a great story that talked about different emotions.
After the story we discussed a time we were happy or sad and shared the experience with one another.

Happy 4th Birthday, Connor! Thank you so much for bringing the yummy cheese balls to share!

Our calendar helper leading us in counting the 8 days of January.
Our meteorologist predicted a cloudy day. We also talked about how the weather is going to get colder this weekend and that it might even snow!

At circle time we acted out Jack and the Beanstalk. Here is Jack's mom telling him to go to market and sell their cow.
At the market Jack met a man who offered to give him magic beans in exchange for the cow. Jack accepted the offer and was excited to tell his mom.
When Jack returned home his mother was very angry that he sold the cow for magic beans. She sent Jack straight to him room for bed and they tossed the beans outside Jack's window.
When Jack woke up the next day he noticed that a tall beanstalk had grown outside his window. Jack decided to go see where the beanstalk led him.
The beanstalk led Jack to a magic castle in the clouds. A giant lived in the castle.
The giant was huge and a little scary.  He liked to say, " Fi, Fie, Fo Fum!"
The giant had a magic hen who layed golden eggs.
Jack decided to take the hen home so his mom and him could sell the golden eggs.

The giant chased Jack and the hen down the beanstalk....
Jack grabbed an ax and cut the beanstalk down just in time and the giant never bothered Jack, his mother or the hen again. Jack and his family lived happily ever after. The End!
At centers we built giant lego castles in the clouds.

We also continued working on our fine motor skills and creating patterns while building a rainbow beanstalk with fruit loops and spaghetti noodles.

At Jesus time we sang a song about Jesus raising Jairus' daughter from the dead to the tune of Jesus Loves me.

We had a fantastic week learning about Fairytales. Looking forward to exploring more about Fairytales next week.
