Winter:Tuesday

Selling Hot Chocolate in Dramatic Play!
We had fun counting/scooping "marshmallows" into our hot chocolate cups.
My friend worked hard making a sign for the hot chocolate stand!

At morning message we discussed that we are talking about winter weather this week!
Our letter helper leading us in singing the alphabet and letter sounds song!
We walked outside for a few minutes to observe the winter weather outside. We noticed snow on the ground, cloudy/grey skies and cold wind!
After checking out the winter weather outside we warmed up while playing in the commons.

Our weather helper predicted a cold and windy day. She also shared that it might snow later this afternoon!
Our calendar helper counting the 19 days of January. We also talked about how today is Tuesday even though it feels like a Monday.
At circle we read,  All You Need for a Snow Man!
We participated in a science experiment and predicted whether an ice cube would melt quicker in water or salt water.
We shared our predictions with our friends.

Then it was time to pour the water in two cups and add the salt to only one cup.
We then added the ice cubes and discussed how we would have to be patient with the results and observe the water/ice cubes throughout centers to find out the results.
Talking about how we get to paint melted snow men at centers today!
Observing the ice in the water and salt water......

                                                       Painting our melted snow men!

Cutting in the cutting pool at centers!

We continued working on our January interviews.

Making more observations about the ice experiment.

Working on writing our names in the writing area.

At the end of centers we all met on the carpet to report the findings from our melting ice science experiment. The results were...
The ice cubes in the water melted quicker then the ice cubes in the salt water.
We were very surprised with these results!

At Jesus time Zippy went grocery shopping. We talked about how God takes care of us and provides us with the food we buy in the grocery store. We went on to talk about the miracle of Jesus feeding five thousand people with only two fish and a couple loaves of bread. We will talk more about this miracle through the week.
