Chicka Chicka Boom Boom:Thursday

Today was a very busy day. We had our very first fire drill of the school year! Before going out and finding our safe spot we talked about why we have fire drills and the safety rules we need to follow when leaving our classroom for a fire drill. The children did wonderful: ) Ask your child about the fire drill today and what they need to do to stay safe.

                                                             Morning Free Play

Mrs. Haun visited our class today and read us the silly book, Are you my mother?

                                                           Outside fun on the playground

Our morning message today was, "God forgives us."
Our friend leading us in singing the alphabet and letter sound song. Ask your child to sing some of the letter sounds for you.
At circle we had a capital and lowercase sort with the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Letters. During this activity the children expanded their vocabulary by learning what capital and lowercase meant. They also were using their gross motor skills with purpose and control as well as demonstrating knowledge of the alphabet.

When a friend matched the uppercase and lowercase letter everyone celebrated singing, Boom Boom!
This game was the highlight of the day. Having the opportunity to use a fly swatter and shout the words, Boom Boom was a big hit!

We also made books at centers titled,  Taking Care of God's World. Check for the book inside your child's back pack. After reading this book with your child talk to them about more ways they can take care of the world and one another.

Acting out the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom story in the sensory table.

The children loved the capital/ lowercase sort so much we played it again during centers with Mrs. Horton.

We also finished up Coconut tree bingo. The whole class identified all the letters of the alphabet on our coconut tree.

At Jesus time Zippy the puppet was sad because he dropped grape juice all over the carpet in his new house. We talked to Zippy and said that when God created the world it was perfect until Adam and Eve sinned. We discussed that we as humans are sinners and make mistakes but God forgives us because he loves us. Zippy felt a little better after hearing we all make mistakes. We also sent Zippy home with some carpet cleaner! During this Jesus time we are recognizing sin and the need for forgiveness.
