Pumpkins: Friday

Having fun outside before the rain this afternoon!

Our calendar helper leading us in counting the 23 days of October!

Our meteorologist predicted a cloudy day.

At circle we gathered pumpkins throughout the room for our pumpkin  measuring circle time.

After gathering all the pumpkins we each collected a small or large object from the classroom to measure.
We worked together as a class to measure how many pumpkins long the different items in the classroom were. Before measuring we predicted how many pumpkins long we thought each item would be...

                                                            Now it's time to count!

We also graphed how many pumpkins long each item was.

This measuring activity helped us count using one to one , compare, measure and use a number to show a quantity.  So many great goals being achieved!

At centers we explored magnetic number cards. These cards help us work on counting one to one!
We continued to build fences in the block area.

We had fun using paint dabbers to create jack o lanterns!

We decided to measure more items at centers with pumpkins as well.

Working together to graph and draw how many pumpkins long classroom items are.

At Jesus time we each had a turn to hold water and explain what God did with the water of the Red Sea to help the Israelites safely escape from Egypt.

We also talked about how God uses water in baptism to wash away our sins.

We ended Jesus time with a song about God washing away pharaoh's army so the Israelites could escape. The song was to the tune of the Itsy Bitsy Spider!
