Pumpkins: Wednesday

Our morning message said that pumpkins need water and sunshine to grow.
Our Alphabet helper leading us in singing the alphabet and letter sounds song!

Our calendar helper counting the 21 days of October.

Our meteorologist predicted a sunny and warm day .
At circle time we talked about the lifecycle of a pumpkin. We worked together to put the sequence cards in order. This activity helps us explore and investigate characteristics of living things, recognizes relationships in the environment, displays information through charts and uses concepts of print.

At centers time we "planted "pumpkin seeds in dramatic play. We watered the seeds to help them grow into orange pumpkins ready to be picked.

We worked together to create fences in our block area for a pumpkin patch.

Relaxing in the reading area with some new reading buddies!
We worked on making our own lifecycle of a pumpkin chart. Ask your child to tell you about the different stages of the pumpkin lifecycle.
We also worked on our cutting skills again today for our October Scissor Page for our portfolios.

Our friends still working to create a pumpkin patch... Way to work together friends!

A friend working on writing his name.

He is very proud of the letters he wrote!

At Jesus time we used different motions to tell the story of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea. This motion reminded the Israelites to Follow the Lord...
Look ahead: The Israelites looked ahead and saw the sea...
Look Behind: The Egyptian army was following the Israelites. The Israelites were scared.
Praise the Lord: God parted the sea and helped the Israelites safely cross the sea and escape from Egypt. Praise God for keeping his people safe.

We sang a life cycle of a pumpkin song on the smart board. This song was a great way to reiterate what we learned about the life cycle at circle and centers.

Check out the link and sing the song with your child! Life Cycle of a Pumpkin Song
