Apples: Thursday

Morning Free Play

Finishing up how many apples tall we are. Check out the pictures in the hallway!

Our morning message for the day stated that an apple has different parts.

Our helper leading us in the alphabet song
                                                                 We found a frog outside!

Our meteorologist for the day said it was going to be hot and sunny!
At circle we read a book that taught us about the parts of an apple. Some new words we learned included core, skin, flesh and seeds(pips).

After reading the book we explored the outside/inside of a real apple. We made sure to examine the apple closely so we could compare the inside/outside of an apple.

We noticed there is a star print in the core of an apple.
We also learned that the flesh of an apple is yellow/white.

Others things we discovered were that we can eat both the inside and outside of an apple. We just have to make sure we don't eat the core! We also learned that the skin and flesh of an apple is smooth.  This is great activity that helps us expand our vocabulary!

We played a number game while drawing apples on a tree. When we rolled the dice we identified the number and used that number to draw that amount of apples on our tree. This activity teaches us that numbers show quantity.

We made apple prints.  We cut the apples in half and stamped apple prints. Look for the star prints in the center of our apples.

Working hard drawing the number of apples we rolled for our trees. At the end of the game we counted the total number of apples on our tree. Check and see how many apples are on your child's tree!

                                                             Selling apples in out market.

At Jesus time we retold Zippy the story of the first sin by acting it out.  We taught Zippy that Adam and Eve ate from the tree that God told them not to eat from. They disobeyed God. We learned that when we disobey God we need to ask for forgiveness.
