Farm:Tuesday

Enjoying free play with different farm activities this morning!

Magnet exploration in the science area...
During this activity the children are solving problems involving the physical property of objects. Why do some objects stick to the magnets and others don't?
                                                    Acting out Old MacDonald's Farm

Acting out the story of Old MacDonald's Farm helps expand our vocabulary.

Morning message today discussed that it is important to follow listening rules. We further discussed that when we use listening rules it's helps us learn.
We looked at a picture of preschool children sitting and listening to a story at circle time.
We pointed out  friends in the picture using their eyes to watch the teacher and ears to listen to the story.

Ask your child how they follow listening rules during circle time and throughout the day!

Enjoying the beautiful weather outside this morning before chapel.

Mrs. Haun led chapel this morning. She explained to us that things are constantly changing in our world. She used the seasons as an example but she reminded us that God's love never changes.
Our offering helper bringing the offering basket up to the altar.

We made a class train walking back to the classroom!

Our calendar helper counting the 15 days of August!

Our meteorologist predicted a sunny day.

We watched a farm video about farm animals and the different jobs they do on the farm at circle.
Shucking corn in the sensory table.
Playing with the barns in the block area. We really worked well with one another on sharing.

Shucking corn was so much fun. The kids really enjoyed exploring the corn. Ask your child what the inside and outside of the corn felt like. Also, ask your child what else they found when opening the corn husks.

We continued to make our own barns with the different farm animals. Ask your child what animals live on a farm.  Also have them identify the different jobs the farm animals help the farmer with on the farm.
Some different questions you can ask to get a conversation started with your child are...What farm animals produce milk? Where do we get eggs from? What crops does a farmer harvest?

We also worked on writing our names at centers. During this activity the children are using writing as a means of communication.

While writing names and words the children are also using concepts of print and attending to sounds in language.
