Apples:Week 2- Wednesday

                                                                  Morning Free Play

Our morning message talked about how welcoming someone shows we care!

     We talked about how this is a picture of a boy walking into school for the very first time. We discussed different ways we could welcome this new friend to our classroom. Ask your child ways they can be welcoming with their friends or new people in their life!

We worked together to build mat man. Mat man is a great activity to help friends become familiar with the handwriting without tears big and little line as well as the big and little curve.

We listened to the mat man song to help us create mat man step by step.

My friends did a wonderful job listening to the song to create mat man's different body parts!

Check out our end result. Our friends were super PROUD of the mat man they created!

We decided to give mat man an apple since we are talking about apples this week.

After creating mat man as a class we all drew our own mat men. The class did GREAT! They created their mat man step by step and followed the steps we used building mat man with the handwriting without tears lines and curves

                                         We draw two big curves (a circle) to make mat man's head.

                                              Next step is to give mat man eyes and a nose.

.

                                         Don't forget to give him a little curve for his mouth!

                                              Ok, it's time to draw two little curves for his ears.

                         Now two little lines and two big lines(rectangle) for his body.

      We need two big lines for his arms and don't forget the five little lines on each arm for his hands.

               We're almost there....we just need two big lines for his legs and two little lines for his feet.

                                      Way to go! You just created your own mat man.

 

                                  My friends were very proud of the mat men they created.

We weighed apples at centers. We compared different objects through out the classroom and guessed which would be heavier before comparing and measuring. We we're surprised to find out that the apples were heavier then most of our classroom objects. Ask your child what is lighter and heavier then an apple!

At Jesus time we sang a song retelling the story of Noah's Ark. We also acted out the story after singing our song. The ark was soooo BIG....there was enough room for Noah, his family, every animal and a partner.
