Farm: Week 2-Friday

Morning Message today reminded us that we were going to have an earthquake drill.

After reading our message we discussed our plan and safe spot for the drill.

Having Fun in the rocks outside!

Our calendar helper leading us in counting the 25 days of September.
Our meteorologist for the day informing us its going to be a sunny day!

We read Who took the Farmers Hat. We made sure to pay close attention to where the hat went throughout the story because we knew we were going to play a game about the different roles the hat performed during the story.

After the story we played who stole the hat from the farmer? Each friend gave us a clue about what happened to the farmers hat. Look in your child's backpack to see what their clue was about the missing hat. This activity encourages your child to exhibit creativity, take initiative as well as uses problem solving skills.
At centers we worked together using a recipe to make chocolate pudding.
We read the recipe step by step to help us make the pudding. Reading the recipe allowed us to apply early reading skills and exposed us to different concepts of print.
We added 4 cups of milk,
                                                          2 packets of pudding mix,
                                                                  stirred the pudding

And then shook the pudding to make it nice and thick.
Check out our end result... MMMM! We set the pudding in the fridge to keep it nice and cool until       we needed it for our activity.
Use a recipe to make something yummy with your child. Go through the recipe step by step and involve your child in the process.  Cooking with your child is a great way to work on math skills. Recipes use numbers and language to display quantity. It is also a great way to expand your child's vocabulary.
While our pudding was chilling in the fridge we drew pictures about our clues to help find the farmer's missing hat.

Getting ready to paint our muddy pigs with chocolate pudding.
We thought it was super silly to paint with pudding but the texture of the pudding on the paper really looks like mud.
We also learned that pigs like to play in the mud when they are hot. The mud cools their bodies off!

After painting our pigs we were able to eat some pudding.... Yummy!

We worked on using kind words when asking for help.

We passed J.J. in a circle but made sure to ask our friend, "Please pass J.J." We made sure to say "thank you" after we received J.J.
At Jesus time we acted out the story of Abraham and Sarah. Here is our friend pretending to be Sarah and thanking God for her baby.

And we finally found the farmer's hat....  Phew!
