Apples: Week 2-Thursday

We had so much fun dancing this morning...check out those smiles!

Working together in the block area

We loved using our new stencils at free play this morning. The dove and rainbow were a big hit to trace because it reminded the children of the story of Noah's Ark and the flood.

Our morning message today talked about how we should be kind to our friends.

                                                          We had chapel this morning.

Our asst. principal, Mr. Marolf led chapel.

He talked about legos and how when you build legos everyone creates something different. He then reminded us that God made us all different and special.

Our offering helper was super proud of his job this morning.

At circle we met a puppet named, J. J. We all took turns welcoming J. J. and made sure to use kind words when welcoming him.

We also discussed different ways we could be a kind friend when playing with J. J. or friends in the classroom.

At circle we read a story about Johnny Appleseed.

After the story we all received "apple seeds" and pretended to plant our seeds in the ground.

We dug a hole for our seed.
We then put the seed in the hole and patted dirt over the hole.

We talked about what is needed for an apple seed needs to grow. Ask your child what is needed for an apple seed to grow into an apple tree? Acting out the process really helped us come to a deeper understanding of the different things that are needed for and apple seed to grow into an apple tree!
An apple tree is thirsty and will need water to grow.

It also needs lots of sunshine.

Once the apple seed receives plenty of water and sunshine the seed will begin to sprout. It will eventually turn into a little apple tree.
The tree will grow taller and taller.

It will first grow flowers(blossoms) that eventually turn into tiny apples.
The apples will grow bigger and once they are ripe we can pick the apples and eat them....Crunch!

We sorted capital and lowercase Aa apples at centers.

We also made apple trees. We traced our hands to help make the branches for the apple tree. This activity was great for developing fine motor muscles in our hands. It was also a great activity to help us with our scissor skills.

Creating mat man in the block area.

We also has the opportunity to work on cutting with scissors. We made sure our thumbs were up!

Weighing apples at centers time!

A friend decided to make apple pie!

Here we are tracing our hands to make the branches for our apple tree.
